Not A Second Time Database Our system searches a database of songs based on a melody sung into a microphone. Although previous systems have used training before deployment, our system is capable of improving search results after deployment. Users indicate which song they were searching for in the results of their search; this response is used to improve results on future queries. Since training is performed after deployment the system can be tailored to specific users. System Overview

Review of ranked-based and unranked-based metrics for determining the effectiveness of search engines

Purpose: Traditionally, there have many metrics for evaluating the search engine, nevertheless various researchers’ proposed new metrics in recent years. Aware of this new metrics is essential to conduct research on evaluation of the search engine field. So, the purpose of this study was to provide an analysis of important and new metrics for evaluating the search engines. Methodology: This is ...

Teaching a Music Search Engine Through Play

Systems able to find a song based on a sung, hummed, or whistled melody are called Query-By-Humming (QBH) systems. We propose an approach to improve search performance of a QBH system based on data collected from an online social music game, Karaoke Callout. Users of Karaoke Callout generate training data for the search engine, allowing both ongoing personalization of query processing as well a...

Muma: a Music Search Engine Based on Content Analysis

Existing music search engines are often limited to the textual modality (i.e., searching the textual metadata that are attached to music documents). We introduce here MUMA (http://muma.labs.exalead.com), a new search engine that relies both on textual metadata and signal processing metadata. MUMA allows the user to search for particular chords sequences, for specific moods, and to listen to aut...

A Multimedia Search and Navigation Prototype, Including Music and Video-clips

Moving music indexing technologies developed in a research lab to their integration and use in the context of a third-party search and navigation engine that indexes music files, archives of TV music programs and videoclips, involves a set of choices and works that we relate here. First one has to choose technologies that perform well, which are scalable (in terms of computation time of extract...

Web pages ranking algorithm based on reinforcement learning and user feedback

The main challenge of a search engine is ranking web documents to provide the best response to a user`s query. Despite the huge number of the extracted results for user`s query, only a small number of the first results are examined by users; therefore, the insertion of the related results in the first ranks is of great importance. In this paper, a ranking algorithm based on the reinforcement le...
